KITESURFING IN FLAG BEACH, FUERTEVENTURA
Flag beach kitesurfing spot is in the north of Fuerteventura on the road driving out of Corralejo, La Oliva region. The wind is predominantly cross-shore and Flag beach is the start of some 6-7 km of white sand, where we have about 3 km for kitesurfing in all different styles of rigind. You can do freestyle, wave riding, jumping, racing and down wind riding.
The best months for practicing kitesurf Fuerteventura are: March, April, May, June July, August, September, November. This is when the sea tends to be flat and the wind consistent. During the winter months (december, january, february) it can become too wavy and though it might be good on the occasional day it cannot be guaranteed.
During the winter months we have different wind directions like onshore, offshore etc and so the only way to guarantee course completion is by using a boat. All course are then taught regardless of wind direction and teaching from a boat gives us the flexibility to move around the island to the most suitable location. We have a team of excellent watersports instructors who not only sail, windsurf, surf, dive and kitesurf but also speak 6 languages between them. You can also feel safe in our hands as Rescue facilities are always at hand for any situation that might occur.
About Flag Beach Kitesurfing School
- During the high season there can easily be more than 50 kitesurfers on the water and so there is no space for the students we can be teaching.
- Flag Beach is a 20 minute circuit; it takes 8 mins to kite/body drag from the top to the bottom and 12 mins to walk back up the beach with the kite. So, in 1 hour the student has only 24 mins in the water where as from the boat there is no walking back up the beach and therefore get their full time practicing.
- Our boat drivers are highly trained at their job so that in an emergency or accident situation they can get right to the student and help them out.
- At low tide the rocks at Flag Beach can be a hazard.
